Abstract. Silver nanoparticles stabilized by hydroxypropylmethylcellulose with a degree of substitution of 0.95 and a degree of polymerization of 800 were synthesized by a chemical method. The structural and physicochemical properties of polymer solutions and films containing hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and silver nanoparticles were studied. The shape, quantity, and size of the silver nanoparticles embedded in the hydroxypropylmethylcellulose films were deter-mined by UV‒Vis spectroscopy, Zetasizer Nano ZS, atomic force microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. An increase in the silver nitrate concentration in a solution of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose after chemical reduction led to changes in the size and shape of the silver nanoparticles.
Key words. nanobiocomposite film, silver nanoparticles, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, degree of substitu-tion, degree of polymerization.
