Abstract. A brief review of publications in the field of creating solar cells based on various polyconjugated polymers has been carried out. Particular attention is paid to the problems of Band gap engineering strategy for polyconjugated polymers, Morphology of the active layer and ways of their optimization, Promising polyconjugated polymers for solar cells. Achievements in the field of synthesis of special polyconjugated polymers formed the basis for the creation of promising organic fullerene-free solar cells (more than 15% conversion achieved), as well as HTL and ETL in third-generation solar cells based on perovskites.

Key words. polyconjugated polymers, thiophene, thienothiophene, benzodithiophene units, Band gap, Morphology, solar cell
